It is easy to lose heart. To give up, to stop praying. But there are some good reasons why the prayer may be delayed. It may be that the answer involves overcoming some other forces or influences n a person’s life. Supposing that we are praying for someone who has been caught up in the thorns of the worries and cares of life. Our prayers could be directed at the thorny issues that surround them

Or suppose that we are praying for someone who is caught up in the battle with the spiritual powers in the heavenly world (all of us are caught up in this battle, in fact). We could pray against the spiritual forces that are hindering them, and for the armour of God to be effective in their life. This kind of praying might take some time.

And it might expedite the main prayer we are praying, speed the answer even.

Giving up is common. But sometimes we may need to concentrate our prayers even more. Take more time, rather than less time.

And often we will need the help of others. As Aaron and Hur helped Moses. As Paul asked his friends to keep on praying for him. As believers gather together to call out to God together.

So that we don’t lose heart. And look for back-ups.
