Grows up to be like Christ. That is where the similarities to other churches come from. We are all growing up to be like Christ. But in ways that are peculiar to the gifts Christ has given us.
So what peculiar (and ordinary) graces have been given to us? In what ways has Christ been using us? What are we good at? Where do we have open doors (or doors that are not locked and barred anyway)?
It is one thing to have gifts (and opportunities) it is another to make good use of them. I am encouraging us to use our graces as much as we can to do two big things:
- Keep on doing things that help people hear the gospel.
- Keep on doing things that help other attenders understand better how God can help them.
We have good relations with our “extended family”. Let us pray and aim to help them hear the gospel clearly.
We have good and friendly relations with each other. Let us not neglect to meet together in ways which help us minister the word of God to each other. It is God’s word which builds his church, which transforms lives, and which keeps us on track in knowing Christ. And makes us peculiarly like him.
